Product Description
Lateral flexion is a tool used by many riders for different reasons. Buck Brannaman discusses three elements of lateral flexion that should occur whether you’re standing still, going forwards or backwards. He shares tips on how you can recognize proper lateral flexion in your horse and explains its role in collection and straightness. Straightness is the balance of a horse on all four quarters, not the absence of bend.
For a young horse, encourage any one of the three elements or any combination thereof. Encourage balance and flexion in your horse on the ground before you ever start riding them.
The length of this lesson is 8 minutes 3 seconds

In 8 minutes Buck clarified lateral flexion and I especially appreciate the clarification as I was practicing lateral flexion with my horse this afternoon and making mistakes with my hand position and his head position. Whilst in the saddle I knew I was wrong, but didn’t have a clear visual of what was correct. It’s a dark night, but I want go outside and ask my horse with a clear mental picture of what is correct.
