Welcome to another kind of Eclectic Conversation; a chance to get to know horsemanship instructors from around the world. The term dispatch means “the sending of someone or something to a destination or for a purpose.” So the term seems to me to fit the collection of interviews with students from around the world who traveled far from home to pursue good horsemanship in the states and take it back home to share. I hope you enjoy these conversations!
In this visit Carlos shared his experiences and philosophy regarding horsemanship. He discussed his journey with horses, his recent transition to a new ranch focused on permaculture, and his plans to conduct workshops and clinics in a more private and personal format. Carlos also mentioned his travels around Mexico and Germany, his interest in learning from various sources, and his participation in horsemanship festivals. He shared his mixed approaches to horse handling, emphasizing the importance of learning and sharing.
About Carlos
Carlos embodies and represents a generation of students of the horse in Mexico that aspire to educate themselves and become the best possible partner and advocates for the horse. Carlos has had the opportunity to learn from a variety of horsemen in the vaquero tradition (Mexico & USA) and had the honor of being part or the Legacy of Legends scholarship program which allowed him to work with some of the main disciples of Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance. Nowadays Carlos gives horsemanship clinics all around Mexico focusing on groundwork and riding fundamentals and barefoot trimming. What inspires him the most and keeps him passionate about horses and life are those “flow” moments where body-mind and heart of horse and rider are aligned. For him groundwork and hoof trimming are the roots of the trust, suppleness and balance we want to achieve in our relationship with horses.
