Emily and Kathleen Lindley Beckham discussed Kathleen’s book, “Discovering the Work.” Kathleen shared her inspiration for writing the book, which was her desire to encourage women, particularly those over 40, to not be intimidated by challenges and to persevere in pursuing their passions, such as horse riding. She emphasized that everyone faces challenges, but everyone also has unique strengths and experiences to share.

She also discussed the importance of authenticity in her writing, the equestrian culture’s attitudes towards quitting, and her early experiences with online horse discussion forums. Lastly, she highlighted the lack of knowledge and awareness among some horse owners, her pricing strategy for her book, and her goal of empowering people and improving the lives of horses.
