Circles and Turns Exercise with Richard Caldwell
$5.00
Product Description
Developing a bridled cow horse is a challenging task. Richard Caldwell shares an exercise he uses to develop proper form in his horses using the traditional hackamore. Along the way, Richard points out common mistakes to watch for as well as ways to make the exercise more challenging. He also discusses the proper use of the hackamore as a tool and its role in the bridle horse tradition.
It is important to allow your horse to make mistakes so that you have the opportunity to make a change. The purpose here is not to hold the horse on the circle but to teach him to stay between your hands and feet. Remember not to over-do this exercise. Practice until you have some success and your horse has better understanding, and then move on. It should not be a drill. Richard reminds us that in making a bridle horse, time is of no importance. There’s always tomorrow.
