Eclectic Conversations: Smoke Elzer and Eva-Maria Maggi authors of Hush of the Land

They discussed the horsemanship aspect of their business, focusing on the experiences of the horses and mules. Smoke shared that the animals enjoy their work, as they get to explore new trails and interact with guests. He also mentioned that the horses learn to associate the guests with positive experiences. Smoke further explained that they take care of the horses and mules throughout their lives, even when they are old and can no longer work. He also shared a story about a horse named Prince, who was rescued from a trainer and went on to have a fulfilling life as a guest horse.
