Emily and Alli discuss Alli’s practice of Restorative Strides (Equine Gestalt Coaching), which involves partnering with horses to help people process past traumas. Alli explained that horses are attuned to people’s emotions, creating a safe space for individuals to confront their past experiences. The coaching can address both past traumas and current life situations, with the approach tailored to each individual. Alli also noted that her clients come from diverse backgrounds, including those with and without horse experience. They also share their personal experiences with horses, with Alli recounting her childhood spent in the wilderness with her family and her decision to pursue Gestalt therapy. The conversation also touched on Alli’s future plans for her practice, including the potential start of a non-profit to provide free mental health services to children in rural areas.
About Alli:
Alli Caraveo is a certified equine Gestaltist and will be finishing up her master Gestaltist training in the next few months through the Touched By A Horse program. Gestalt work invokes the use of somatics, language, deep awareness, and is rooted in the humanistic side of psychology. Through gestalt clients are able to work through past experiences that might be showing up for them in the present and creating a deeper sense of self. Horses beautifully pair with gestalt because they are rooted in the present. Alli works with clients one on one in person, in groups, over zoom, and travels to do this work.
She also partners with Montana Horsepower, a non profit that provides free retreats to women veterans and teen girls. If you would like to learn more or donate to their cause visit mthorsepower.com/programs/ .
