Informative, instructional- everything you need to know in a how-to on traditional rope construction… more than that though, it’s likely the closest many of us will get to having had an opportunity to meet one of the greatest horsemen. It about horsemanship, stockmanship, rope handling and is entertaining to boot.

While I am happy to have access to such great instruction in making a reata, I am ecstatic to see and hear Bill Dorrance talk about life. It is like being in the same room with him and being able to relive it again and again. Randy Rieman is the perfect companion in the video as he elicits Bill’s views on many things as they braid the reata. I am glad I finally bought this DVD. You will be too.

I have a 60 foot rawhide reata braided by Randy Rieman and have been lucky enough to have ridden with him a couple times, each time with him helping me immeasurably so I have an idea on his value. However I put off purchasing the DVD set “Four Strands of Rawhide” as I assumed it was pretty much just about braiding. I was mistaken. While if you are a rawhide braider or just even interested in seeing how it’s done – this DVD would be invaluable, but the value to me was listening to the conversations between Randy and Bill Dorrance, the footage of great hands roping cows, and Bill Dorrance throwing his hip shot. I have likely watched it 4 times so far, each time picking up sometime new – which is the value of having a DVD. You will not be disappointed you bought it. And I assure you – Randy say’s “Good Golly’ more times in person than he does on the DVD.

There is a lot more to this DVD than just braiding four strands of rawhide! Lot of interesting information, listening to two very knowledgeable men, backed up by some nice music by Jesse Ballantyne!
