A vast wealth of knowledge on CD! This electronic book must be viewed using Adobe Acrobat.
Stuffed with gorgeous photos of broadleaf weeds and toxic grasses, this is a compilation that every horse owner needs. If you’re like many, you’ll say “What! I thought horses were supposed to eat grass.” Yes — but there are many kinds of grass, some of which can actually poison him. Do you know what your horse is eating? Dr. Deb has also included clear discussions of endophyte toxins, head-shaking syndrome, hypersensitivity, easy fattening and founder-prone horses, and why some alfalfa/lucerne may cause problems with reproduction and performance. In one volume she has brought together information from hundreds of botanical sources, with over 3,000 photos. This is a delicious read that your horse will thank you for!

The content of the CD is divided into two PDF books. These are quite large files, but once they are open, they are very easy to search, and as another reviewer commented, one can easily enlarge the pictures to see the detail. This is a major advantage over paper books, and has helped me to correctly identify a few plants that I thought were something else. The information on why and how some plants are trouble is invaluable. I wish I’d got this CD sooner!

At first I was not sure I liked the CD format as I don’t like to spend a lot of time reading on a screen. Once I discovered how easy it was to use the search and zoom functions, I realized how much better this was than book format. I could easily compare pictures of different, but similar plants by blowing them up so I could see the detail. The information is really helpful and I had a fun time taking pictures of the plants in my pasture and looking them up. I found several plants that can cause problems with my horses and have dug them up. This CD book is a must for all horse owners who manage their own property.
