Mini-Course on DVD
Featuring Dave Elliott, Master Bitmaker, and Deb Bennett, Ph.D.
There is nothing else like this four-DVD set. Dr. Deb and Dave begin by showing you real horse skulls and simple models that make it clear exactly how bits interact with the tongue, lips, bars, jaw joints, poll, neck, and how they act to influence the horse’s hindquarters for transitions or collection.
There’s a segment featuring Dave as he crafts a complex bit completely from scratch, from two lengths of steel bar-stock to a polished finished snaffle bit. Dave also demonstrates fancy-work with metal engraving, silver-carving, and studding. More than 20 different types of bits are shown and many of these are placed in the mouth of the same horse to demonstrate fit and adjustment.
The program covers both leverage and non-leverage designs, “English” and “Western” bits.
The presentation is casual and conversational, and the whole program is set up so that anyone can understand. Whether you’re interested in barrel racing, dressage, western pleasure, trail riding, jumping, gaited horses, or just plain want to understand better how bits work, this is huge value.
