Product Description

Colic is one word guaranteed to make every horse owner and caretaker of horses slightly nervous.

The word ‘colic’ is in fact a generic word for a bellyache, encompassing a very wide range of symptoms and physical problems. This class will give an overview of how the equine gastrointestinal system works, and how it can go wrong. We’ll talk about different types of colic and what causes them, take a look at some of the current scientific research on colic, and discuss current veterinary recommendations for dealing with colic in the field.

Science can seem daunting, but Dr. Watkins, with her background in college-level genetics and microbiology, makes it accessible.
