Only the calcefied portion of the horse’s skeleton remains therefore the cartilage and sternum are missing. Note how far back on the ribcage the rider sits, over the 13 -14 ribs below which is the horse’s center of gravity when standing. The ribs continue forward under the horse’s shoulder blades.
