Excerpt from the Horseman’s Gazette Issue No. 13
Communication with your horse can be developed whether you’re on the ground or in the saddle. Offer your horse a feel and teach him to follow a suggestion. The more consistent you are, the sooner your horse will be able to differentiate between cues and motion. In this segment, Buck Brannaman discusses a simple ground exercise he regularly uses and what he looks for in the horse. A horse that is reactive rather than responsive is not ready to ride and needs better preparation before a rider can safely climb into the saddle.
