Excerpt from the Horseman’s Gazette Issue No. 4
Ever ridden an unmotivated horse? Some days horses just don’t want to go to work. Joe Wolter reminds us to remember yesterday but to expect a different horse today and adjust to fit the situation.
In this segment, Joe rides a young horse who is disinterested in cattle work. Watch as Joe uses the cow to teach his horse timing and positioning. His aids are used only to reinforce the cow’s movements, so the horse learns to read the cow rather than rely on the rider. As Joe’s horse begins to get in time with the cow, he also begins to shape himself in a more athletic position to do his job.
