Eclectic Horseman contributor Missy Fladland is in Europe for the summer to train and show. She will be sending regular updates about her adventures!
The first leg of my journey to Europe has been completed and was successful. Horses and I flew out on a Friday afternoon and arrived early Saturday morning in Amsterdam. Because we were the only horses on the this flight, which was a combi plane, I.E. passenger / cargo plane, it made our trip through customs very quick. Only took us 2 ½ hours. Woohoo. Then we were off on a short ride to the Horsey Hotel for a 12 hr layover before we made our 12hr trip down to the UK
Once horses were rested, we loaded up at midnight Saturday night and headed down to the UK. It was a 12 hour drive which included a 1 ½ Ferry ride from France over to the UK.
From the Ferry it tools us around 3 1/2 hours to drive to the Yard where we are staying which is just down the road from Carl Hester’s Yard. Horses arrived safe and sound and in great condition. I can’t thank the people of The Dutta Corp enough for everything they did to make our trip smooth and seamless. The Yard we are at is just lovely with a wonderful Cottage, which is where I will live for the next 4 months. The people are just delightful and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and arena is just wonderful with excellent footing. FEI Judge Peter Storr comes regularly to teach and it is fun to set and listen to. It is going to be an exciting summer competing and training here. I’m excited to be able to share the experience with all of you. Till the next update bye for now……
