12.11.25 Eclectic Classroom: Functional Conformation Exploration with Deb Bennett, Ph.D.

This very special Eclectic Classroom will take us into Dr. Deb’s extensive photo files to analyze conformation of horses of all types, breeds and disciplines. We’ll feature the photos of three students who have submitted their photos ahead of time.

Utilizing the anatomical principles detailed in Horse Conformation Principles of Form & Function series Dr. Deb will assess a horse’s suitability for specific disciplines and provide helpful suggestions to the owner for approaches or modifications to training that might benefit or ease the development of their particular horse.

Students will learn to analyze how skeletal structure and muscular development dictate movement biomechanics and influence the horse’s ability to achieve collection and perform various activities effectively. The approach integrates knowledge essential for riders, trainers, owners, and hoof care professionals, emphasizing how correct anatomical information improves judging, training decisions, and horse selection for a successful and enjoyable partnership.

The class was held Thursday December 11th via Zoom starting at 6pm MST.

Please plan on the class lasting up to  two hours. We will visit about the topic then open up for questions and answers from the students.

Classes will be recorded and you will have a copy of the class automatically added to your account in The Mercantile where you can watch it again, or if you missed the class watch what you missed!
